Delegates from Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar) and Northeast Asia (China, Japan, & South Korea) gathered to meet in a forum-conference that enabled discussions, exchanges, and sharing of ideas on arts for development work.
Speaking on the theme of ‘Capitalizing on Diversity and Differences in Cultures to Promote Peace and Understanding in Asia’, Sumiko Tamuro made a presentation about the ‘Theater Project for Multicultural Societies’ on 23rd Nov.

The Council of Europe inspect our theater project
for multicultural societies.

The Council of Europe is working on an ‘Intercultural City Program’ to promote diversity as a source of dynamism, innovation, creativity and growth.
Some of the delegation members visited a few Japanese cities with a large immigrant population, including Kani-city. They were interested in the theater project for multicultural societies at Kani Public Arts Center for its quite unique approach.
